Outcomes Document Discussion (Updated on 6 Jul)
It is glad to see that there are quite a number of inputs on the online commenting platform collected over the period of the conference which are very constructive and useful. After the 3 days discussion, there has been a rough consensus among the APrIGF Macao 2015 participants to move forward with the Outcomes Document and extend the comment period to further solicit a wider input on this open document before finalizing it.
A Drafting Team has therefore been formed to steer the development of this Outcomes Document which an initial meeting has been held to outline the structure of the document and also the timeline. The way forward is creating a Draft 0 by incorporating the collected comments online followed by another 1-month comment period.
We are now doing a final call out to any interested community members to join the Drafting Team. If you would like to be part of it, please contact sec@aprigf.asia by 7 Jul(Tue) 2015.

Background

The APrIGF Outcomes Document is a new experiment of the APrIGF Macau 2015.  The concept was first raised and discussed at the APrIGF New Delhi 2014 Multstakeholder Steering Group (MSG) meetings, and further refined over the course of MSG deliberations through the year.  The Outcomes Document aims to document items of common interest relevant to Internet Governance in the Asia Pacific region.

In terms of the process of the development of the Outcomes Document, the first rough draft is based on the submitted and accepted workshop proposals for the APrIGF, which will contain largely placeholders and basic summary of topics to be discussed at the APrIGF event.  The rough draft is circulated at the APrIGF mailing list and posted publicly to solicit comments.  The document is expected to be further developed and hopefully finalized at multiple “Outcomes Document Discussion” sessions at the APrIGF event.  You can refer to the APrIGF Macau 2015 agenda for details of the scheduled session.

The Outcomes Document aims only to document the input from participants at the APrIGF and is not intended to be representative of the diverse Asia Pacific region.  Nevertheless, it is the hope of the APrIGF MSG that the development of the Outcomes Document can help drive active participation in the movement, as well as to allow for a platform to project voices, views and thoughts in the Asia Pacific region as contributions to relevant global, national, local and international forums on Internet Governance.
